SECTION A (20 Marks)
Answer All questions in this section.
Scientists have learnt a great about Malaria carrying Mosquitoes. The only importance of the male is the part it plays in helping to produce young mosquitoes. He is the smaller and weaker sex. He feeds not on blood but on plants liquid and lives only about a week. The average life time of female is about a month during which she has a life of about 15seconds.
The eggs go through four development stages and finally the small mosquitoes appear. They wait only for their wings to be strong enough before they fly off in search of food.
Not until 1940, however, did the wiping out malaria from the world finally become possible. A Swiss, scientist discovered a drug, popularly known as D.D.T which killed most insects that touched it. D.D.T and other sprays made it possible for the world health organization (WHO) to declare total war on mosquitoes. Most of these insects bite human beings while indoors. Having fed herself on blood, a female can fly a short distance before resting and usually lands on a wall or on an object in room not very high up. If the area has been sprayed with one of the long lasting sprays like D.D.T. the poison enter her system and she soon dies. Even if the person suffered from malaria she would be dead long before the end of the 10 to 15 days required to make her able to infect another person.
If all mosquitoes that have fed on the blood of malaria victims before they make people ill, malaria ends.
The disease seldom remains in the human blood for more the three years. A national wide programme of spraying every inside wall of every house in every place where mosquitoes can breed should be over a period of four or five years, result in the end of malaria. Such spraying is a huge task. It requires good organization, to say nothing of money. Never the less, several nationwide programmes have been successfully carried out and others are now in progress in Tanzania the largest yet attempt is in the city of Dar es salaam and Morogoro Region.

COMPREHENSION AND SUMMARY
Answer all questions in this section
Student dislike the ward `discipline`. This is because to them discipline means punishment. When students are punished, they are told is in interest of discipline`. But through punishment is the part of discipline, discipline means much more than this. This word comes from the word `disciple` meaning a learner, pupil or follower of teacher and it means proper training. A disciple put himself under a teacher to be trained and taught.
If disciple is to learn anything from the teacher, he must be ready to obey him and follow his instructions. They very essence of discipline is obedience we may say that discipline means learning to obey necessary rules of conduct. To be of any use in societychild has to be trained by this parent`s and teachers from this earliest years.
The first lesson he has to learn is obedience; then it has to be behavior how to form good habits and avoid unbecoming conduct. The method of such training are, parent instruction, good example and when necessary punishment. The child has to be taught how to behave well, what he mush not do. If he refuses to learn or to disobey orders he has to be corrected by punishment of unpleasant results. He will still then more from examples set by this parents and teachers. He will then try to copy them.
When we wish to act together in societies or companies we have to agree upon certain rules of conduct. The enforcement of obedient to such rules is called discipline. A society that has rules or that does not see, that its rules are kept will son fall to pieces. A regiment or any army without discipline is a mere mob. Even in games, rules and discipline are necessary. If a footballer defied the referees with stile when he gave an off –side or a four, there would be an end to football.
